Bellflower Candy

The one people know us for. Bellflower root is steeped rather than powdered. The steeping and extraction take time, and bring out the depth of the root.

Key ingredients

A candy can only hold so much raw material and still set properly. BARAGI bellflower candy uses concentrate at close to that limit — 4% of the total, counting all concentrates together. The 2% on the ingredient list is the bellflower-root share of that.

The blend, and how it is used

The bellflower root is not powdered. Three-year Korean bellflower root is cold-steeped in water and extracted into a concentrate.

Schisandra berry, quince, pear and liquorice concentrates balance the flavour, and propolis adds a light, clean finish.

The only sweetness comes from cane sugar and rice syrup, not refined sugar. Herbal pharmacists trained at Kyung Hee University formulate it; Hanyang Confectionery makes it in a HACCP certified facility.

A food for everyday consumption. It makes no health claims.

When to reach for it

  • In a stuffy room with little fresh air
  • Long stretches of driving or focused work
  • Midway through a day of talking for work
  • When you want a hard candy without refined sugar

How to enjoy it

Dissolve in the mouth without water. Let it melt slowly rather than swallowing whole, to avoid choking.

The tube fits a car cup holder, so it travels well.

Sensitive to moisture and heat — reseal the remainder and keep it somewhere cool.
